Note to all: Thursday’s discussion (Class Eight) will be about public key encryption, a topic that requires some background in algorithms.  Make sure you read Section 12.3 of the textbook. Some familiarity with the basic definitions of complexity theory and modular arithmetic will be needed.

    This is what I was talking about in class today. Parallel computing breaks DES, “with 280 billion keys per second, with a single hardware acccelerated server”
